Repair of machine components in manufacturer´s quality

You have surely already asked yourself the question: What determines the success of an enterprise? There are, of course, a variety of factors that play a role. However, economic experts will swiftly exclaim “efficiency”. But what does this mean? To clarify, this means: “doing things the right way”.

We at Yamato would like to support you at being efficient. There is no doubt that optimization will improve your manufacturing process. A key factor is the maintenance of your packaging equipment.

It is in the nature of things that they will one day be in need of maintenance. The key factor here is the quality of those repairs in terms of performance and spare parts.

We at Yamato are often confronted with dramatic machine damage caused by poorly and unprofessionally executed repairs. Some users of multihead weighers make the mistake of allowing the repair of actuator units to be done by amateur craftsmen. The consequences of this can be devastating! A malfunctioning actuator unit will impact the function of the entire multihead weigher. At the end of the day such units have to be sent to our workshop, where our experts are called upon to do damage control. In most cases, a readjustment is still possible, but unfortunately not always. However, the painful truth for the customers is … they have to pay twice.

Countersink due to corrosion

Corroded ball bearings prevent the smooth movement of the actuator and lead to countersink of the counterpart rod end. A diminished performance and even downtimes of the entire packaging line can result.

Don´t underestimate the impact of low-quality repairs!

Our observations in this area confirm that the spare parts used are fake and of poor quality. Among other defects, this leads to the countersinking of bearings due to corrosion or to material fracture from inadequate material. Moreover, corrosion causes product contamination as rust fractions can peel off and directly pollute the product. Low-quality and inappropriate rubber seals cannot prevent humidity diffusion into the actuator units, which in turn causes damage to mechanical and electronical components.

The greatest danger for using unprofessionally repaired actuator units is that the multihead weighers do not comply with the relevant hygiene requirements. Hence the food safety of your production cannot be assured. In other words, customers using actuator units that are not repaired by the manufacturer – in this case Yamato Scale – are running the risk of losing their EC-Certification as they are not compliant with the EG-Regulation.

Inadequate material causes corrosion and calcification

Over time, the construction is not able to withstand the loads and risks breaking off. The valuable load cell that is attached to it falls, leading to irreparable damage.

Do not waste your money! Remember “Doing the right thing” means sending all defective components directly to Yamato Scale. When it comes to improving the efficiency of your packaging process, this is the only way to go.
